Great comments. I have been asking questions about masks and swabs for over a year with not much in response. WCB and IA 891. One response was we called and WCB said it’s safe? Where is the study or proof? They said that in the past about asbestos. I haven’t forgot. The masks and swabs are sterilized in Ethylene Oxide. It is labelled on the government website as a highly cancer causing substance. That poses a concern to all of us especially those in the film red zone. Are we Guinea pigs for Hollywood? Our Union is basically useless. 2 years of excessive treatment with no disclosure of our long term safety with these covid measures. Im sure none of our elected have been tested 5 days a week or have had to wear a mask 12 hrs a day since we all got back to work with some added baggage to look after. We elected our leaders. They serve us not the other way around. This isn’t about paranoia, maybe it’s all okay? We as paying members that elected our board need answers to these questions. Our leaders in our local Union need to start challenging the bullshit status quo. The lies are starting to ring very loud. Many members have struggled to stay employed and have been harassed, as i can attest to. The Union does nothing. The egos are too large to ever admit a wrong. Start looking after your membership that voted you in.
I too Had an allergic reaction to the Covid tests And when I asked the nurse applying the test what ingredients were on the swab so that I could research why I was having an allergic reaction to it, she said it was not available. She further said that if it was not available it meant that there was nothing but cotton swab on the tips. I’ve never been allergic to cotton, so that is very suspicious. I asked her if there was another test I could take and she said no. I’ve been Told by a good friend of mine who works in Covid that they have been advised to report those crewmembers Who were resistant or upset about taking the test provided. Contacted the union, IATSE local 891, and they said that the production had a right to use any test they pleased and there was nothing they could do about it. They also advised that if I had a problem with it to quit the show. Totally not fair how they are ruining our lives and prayers over a scam!
I had a bad reaction to the swabs on a show...the packages are all in Korean so I asked for a safety data sheet from the COVID team...3 weeks I was asking with no response
I still have sores in my nose...reading up on the swabs some of them are sterilized with a solution that is carsonegetic

I was on a show Nickelodeon show that changed there testing kits near the end and I had a pre-bad reaction to the new ones and let them know that I was having a bad reaction and asked for an alternative test to be done and all that got was don’t work then from the production and the union set the exact same thing they can’t make them give alternative tests if you’re having an allergic reaction it’s either take the test that causes you medical harm or don’t work. And the remaining days that I had booked on the show that were booked for the beginning of the show and magically disappeared by saying they change the schedule but I know for a fact they did not and people that got hired after me we’re still working those days. 891 local
